Clinging on: On Netanyahu and the Israel elections

Benjamin Netanyahu was at the centre of Israel’s October 27 elections. For Israel’s longest-serving Prime Minister, who oversaw a genocidal war in Gaza following Hamas’s October 7 attack, the election was the biggest test of his political career. For the Opposition, which promised to hold him accountable for the failures of October 7 and end the country’s “forever wars”, the election offered an opportunity to oust him from power. The results, however, sent a mixed message. With 85.6% of the votes counted, Mr. Netanyahu’s right-religious coalition has lost its majority but is still the largest bloc. His Likud party is projected to win 26 seats, while its main rival Yashar, led by former military chief Gadi Eisenkot, is expected to secure 21. Otzma Yehudit and Religious Zionism, the far-right extremist parties in Mr. Netanyahu’s coalition, demonstrated their continued strength, winning 13 seats between them. The dark horse, however, could be the Arab parties — the Joint List is projected to win 12 seats while the United Arab List (Ra’am) could secure seven seats. With neither bloc commanding a majority, the Arab parties could propel the opposition coalition to power. But the big question is whether the anti-Netanyahu coalition is ready to join hands with the Arab parties, which have historically been kept on the margins of Israel’ s power politics.

Mr. Netanyahu’s central promise has been that only he can guarantee Israel’s security. Yet, the October 7 attack took place on his watch and he has refused to take responsibility for the failures that led to it. A wanted man by the International Criminal Court, he has repeated, before and after October 7, that a Palestine state would not be formed while he is in power. His war on Gaza has killed over 70,000 Palestinians, including 20,000 children, and displaced the region’s population. Israel’s brutal occupation machinery has also expanded and tightened its control of the West Bank, while settler terrorists have unleashed violence on Palestinian households. His war on Iran has been a disaster, with global economic consequences. Mr. Netanyahu has sought to portray his wars as bold, necessary moves to protect Israel, while exploiting Israelis’ security concerns for political gain. He may not be voted out immediately, but his failure to secure a majority and the decline in his party’s popularity are significant. The Opposition should take its cue from the results and form a broad coalition with the Arab parties. It should restore accountability in governance, revisit his unchecked militarism and rebuild ties with the world. If Mr. Netanyahu continues to cling to power, it would be bad news for Israel and the region.

What SEO and GEO can learn from revenue operations

Funnel definitions and stages, qualification models and scoring, and unit economics are most often used in revenue operations. But when SEO and GEO teams borrow them with shared definitions, they can make better decisions about what to measure and prioritize.

Both channels are commercial levers, so let’s explore why they should share principles with RevOps.
Visibility isn’t always commercial value

Traditional search is quite often measured in rankings, impressions, traffic, and share of voice. GEO has since introduced citations, mentions, and AI visibility. Share of voice (SOV) is common to both, as is commercial impact, even when incrementality and/or attribution can be complex.

The crux is that commercial impact should be the primary measure of value.

For instance, a page generating 10,000 organic visits may produce fewer qualified opportunities than one generating 500.

Think of a product page with a high conversion rate (CVR) versus an informational guide without any connection to movement of users across a buying journey.

For a real-world example, at a healthcare publication I worked on, we had a page targeting a keyword that was reported to have zero monthly search volume in the U.S.

It generated far fewer clicks than other content, but user intent and therefore its conversion rate performed so strongly that it resulted in more than $40,000 of annual revenue. That was nearly double the revenue of the next most valuable page.

The same idea applies to GEO, where being cited a lot is not inherently valuable if those citations never influence a commercially meaningful decision.

RevOps offers frameworks that help make those connections, and it starts by defining the movement that increased visibility is supposed to create.

Dig deeper: How to make your SEO strategy more commercially aware
Start with funnel definitions

RevOps teams have agreed definitions of how customers are created through funnel stages, from prospect to MQL to SQL to opportunity and eventually to closed-won or closed-lost.

Connect SEO or GEO touchpoints to the stages they can realistically influence.

An informational article may spark needed awareness to move users toward deeper product research, a high-intent comparison page may generate demo requests that sales can work on, a citation or brand mention might influence further consideration before a potential customer visits your site, or it may even be the deciding factor a month after the latest touchpoint.

SEO and GEO can be viewed through the lens of reverse-engineering a desired outcome, identifying which touchpoints should move users toward it, while also recognizing that not everything needs to perform immediately.
Measure CVR between stages

Traffic, mentions, and citation growth are visibility, but stage-to-stage CVR provides a clearer picture of quality, exposes snags, and informs what the best thing to do is.

In first such killing in India, Kuno cheetah cub shot dead, pellets recovered

In what is believed to be the first reported killing of a cheetah in India since the species was reintroduced in 2022, a 19-month-old male cub died early Tuesday after being found critically injured in Madhya Pradesh’s Morena forest division, with five firearm pellets recovered from its body during surgery.

The last recorded killing of cheetahs in India dates back to 1947, when Maharaja Ramanuj Pratap Singh Deo of Koriya, in present-day Chhattisgarh, shot dead the country’s last three remaining Asiatic cheetahs.

The cub, identified as KNG22, was rescued from Compartment No. 748 of the forest division and initially examined through an X-ray, which revealed multiple foreign bodies at different locations inside its body. Treatment was initiated accordingly.

Following consultations with experts, the cheetah was shifted to the Department of Veterinary Surgery and Radiology at NDVSU in Jabalpur for further investigation and intensive treatment.
CT SCAN REVEALS DAMAGE TO INTERNAL ORGANS, NERVOUS SYSTEM

A subsequent CT scan revealed multiple foreign bodies that had damaged the cheetah’s internal organs, musculoskeletal system and nervous system.

An emergency surgery was performed, during which five firearm pellets were recovered from the animal’s body. However, despite the surgical intervention and sustained efforts by the veterinary team, the cheetah could not be saved.
SPECIAL TASK FORCE CONSTITUED TO PROBE

The Madhya Pradesh government has constituted a Special Task Force (STF) comprising forest and police officers to conduct a detailed investigation into the incident.

The development was announced by Dr Sameeta Rajora, Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (Wildlife) and Chief Wildlife Warden of Madhya Pradesh, in a statement dated October 27.
INDIA'S CHEETAH POPULATION STANDS AT 58

With the death of KNG22, India’s total cheetah population stands at 58, according to the statement.

Of these, 52 cheetahs are in Kuno National Park, four in Gandhi Sagar Wildlife Sanctuary and two in Veerangana Durgavati Tiger Reserve (VDTR).

The circumstances under which the cheetah sustained the firearm pellet injuries are being investigated by the newly constituted STF.

Microsoft offers voluntary exits to 60,000 employees: What's in it, who qualifies and will India’s 23,000

Microsoft has introduced a voluntary exit offer for eligible employees in India, the United States, the United Kingdom and Canada, giving them the option to leave the company with financial support and career transition assistance.

The programme covers around 60,000 employees globally, but participation will depend on individual business requirements, leaving it unclear how many of Microsoft's approximately 23,000 employees in India will qualify.

The offer is available to employees at level 70 and below in participating organisations, according to a blog post by Microsoft's Executive Vice President and Chief People Officer Amy Coleman. Eligible employees in India reportedly have until December 1 to decide whether to accept the offer.

The announcement comes as Microsoft continues to realign its workforce and faces scrutiny in the United States over its hiring of foreign workers and visa practices.

What is Microsoft's voluntary exit offer?

The Voluntary Exit Offer (VEO) is a programme that allows eligible employees to leave Microsoft voluntarily in exchange for financial assistance and career planning resources. Unlike a conventional layoff, it gives qualifying employees the choice to accept an exit package rather than making their departure mandatory.

Coleman said the initiative would provide employees considering opportunities outside Microsoft with support to make the transition, while giving participating businesses another way to adjust their workforce to changing requirements.

"This offer gives eligible employees who may be considering a future outside the company a new choice to make that transition now with support. It also gives participating organisations another way to adapt their workforce to changing needs," Coleman said in her blog post.

The programme is a new initiative for Microsoft, and the company has indicated that it will assess how it works. "The Voluntary Exit Offer is new for us. We'll learn from it," Coleman added.
Employees in which countries are eligible?

The offer covers eligible employees in four countries: India, the United States, the United Kingdom and Canada.

Approximately 60,000 employees across these markets are reportedly covered by the rollout. However, this figure does not mean that all 60,000 employees will leave Microsoft or that every employee in these countries can accept the offer.

Eligibility is restricted to employees at level 70 and below in participating organisations. These levels refer to Microsoft's internal job grades, which span different levels of seniority.

The company has also clarified that the programme will not be available uniformly across its operations. Some organisations will participate, while others will not, depending on business priorities, customer commitments and workforce requirements.

Eligible employees will receive emails containing the specific terms of their offers, according to the company.

How much money will employees receive?

The exit package is understood to resemble a standard severance arrangement, including one month's base salary for every completed year of service, along with health insurance and career transition services.

The financial support is intended to help employees manage the period between leaving Microsoft and moving to another job or career opportunity.

However, the precise terms may vary according to individual offers. Employees will need to refer to the communication sent by Microsoft to establish their eligibility, compensation and other applicable conditions.

The programme also includes career planning assistance, while Microsoft says it will continue helping employees develop skills and explore internal opportunities where appropriate.
Will Microsoft's 23,000 employees in India be affected?

India is among the four countries included in the programme, but this does not mean that all employees based in the country are eligible.

Microsoft has approximately 23,000 employees in India, PTI reported. The company has not provided an immediate breakdown of how many of them qualify for the voluntary exit offer.

Eligibility will depend on the employee's job level and whether their organisation is participating. Consequently, the total number of eligible employees in India and the number who may eventually accept the offer remain unclear.

Microsoft has also reiterated its commitment to the Indian market. A company spokesperson told PTI that Microsoft had committed $20.5 billion in investments between 2025 and 2029 across cloud and AI infrastructure, skilling and operations.

The spokesperson added that the company remained on track to equip 20 million people in India with AI skills by 2030.

The investment commitments indicate that the voluntary exit programme should not, by itself, be interpreted as a withdrawal from India. The offer is intended to give participating businesses flexibility in managing their workforce while supporting employees who choose to leave.
Is Trump's visa crackdown linked to Microsoft's buyout offer?

The announcement comes against the backdrop of scrutiny of US companies' employment of foreign workers. US Vice President JD Vance had announced that Microsoft and seven other companies would be barred from seeking green cards for skilled foreign workers amid an investigation into alleged visa fraud. However, the two developments are not linked.

Microsoft defended its hiring practices in a statement issued on October 8, saying the vast majority of its US employees were Americans. The company said that, of approximately 6,000 H-1B applications submitted in the previous fiscal year, 80% were intended to extend or change the status of existing employees.

H-1B visas allow US employers to hire eligible foreign workers in specialised occupations, while employment-based green cards provide a route to permanent residence. The visa controversy has therefore added another layer of scrutiny to Microsoft's US workforce practices.

The controversy coincided with US President Donald Trump's presentation of the National Medal of Technology and Innovation to Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella, who previously held an H-1B visa.

Notably, Microsoft eliminated approximately 4,800 roles in July as part of an annual realignment, primarily affecting its Commercial and Xbox organisations. The company also said it had redeployed more than 4,000 employees into new roles over the preceding year.

Apabila suatu abgbet88 platform menawarkan permainan berbasis taruhan, perhatian tambahan diperlukan.

Bermain Secara Bertanggung Jawab

Cara Menilai Kredibilitas Informasi ABGBET88

Ketika mencari informasi mengenai ABGBET88, pengguna sebaiknya membandingkan beberapa sumber independen.

Hundreds join Jamia hunger strike on Day 14 despite campus shutdown, hostel eviction threats

NEW DELHI: Jamia Millia Islamia University's decision to close campus libraries and shift classes online from October 24 failed to prevent hundreds of current and former students from gathering on Sunday in solidarity with hunger strikers demanding the restoration of students’ union elections, with the protest in its 14th day.

Despite a heavy police deployment and barricades at the university gates, students reportedly entered the campus through different gates to reach the protest site near Gate No. 7. The gathering grew through the morning, with students raising slogans, holding posters and dafli s, and banging on gates to demand that they be opened to allow more students inside.

The situation appeared to be under control until around 11 am, but tensions escalated after Vice-Chancellor Mazhar Asif and the proctorial team were seen touring the protest site around noon. The team later left without speaking to the protesters.

By 1.30 pm, the number of police and Rapid Action Force (RAF) personnel deployed at the site had doubled. The situation outside Gate No. 7 grew tense as former students and others joined the gathering. Four to five protesters were allegedly dragged away by Delhi Police and detained at 3 pm. Four female students were also reportedly detained outside the gate.

Protesters alleged that food and water bottles were being prevented from entering the campus, with some students throwing water bottles through the grilled gates as the standoff continued.

The agitation also spread to the girls’ hostels, where students marched through Saturday night. Hostel corridors reportedly echoed with chants of “Inquilab Zindabad” at around 2 am.

The protests come amid allegations that female hostellers had been asked to vacate their rooms within three days, with warnings that mess and Wi-Fi services would be discontinued.

Ruqiah, a Jamia student, said, “Almost all hostellers have been asked to vacate their houses in the next three days. There is no official notice on this but they have just been warning us that the wifi and the mess will be shut. Some of us belong to Assam, Gujarat, Jharkhand , Jammu and Kashmir. How does the administration expect us to get the tickets booked in two days and leave until further orders? We told them there is no ticket available right now owing to the festive season, the warden told us that we should take a cab and leave early.”

She added, “It’s not even a month that we have come to our hostels after paying Rs 29000 and without any official order asking us to vacate such that no one reaches the protest site.”

The students alleged that the move would make it difficult for those from outside Delhi to continue participating in the agitation. They also questioned how they were expected to arrange travel at short notice during the festive season, particularly when tickets were unavailable.
